Other Life Safety systems
Fire extinguishers and AEDs are only part of a Life Safety program. Alarm panels, sprinkler systems, emergency lighting, generators, detectors, and other safety-critical systems also need to be identified, located, inspected, and kept from quietly slipping past due.
MaintenanceOps lets you track these systems alongside other Life Safety equipment so one dashboard can show what’s current, what’s coming due, and what needs attention.
The six system groups

These groups organize the register; use a device or system name that matches the equipment you actually maintain.
Add a new Life Safety system
Section titled “Add a new Life Safety system”From Life Safety Assets, select + Add asset and provide the information that makes the unit actionable:
- Choose the correct system group.
- Enter a clear name and type.
- Set the location where the unit can actually be found.
- Enter the next inspection due date.
- Set the inspection frequency when the system repeats on a cadence.
When adding the same equipment in several places, you can select multiple locations and create one unit per location in a single step.
Track an existing asset as Life Safety equipment
Section titled “Track an existing asset as Life Safety equipment”If equipment already exists in the normal asset registry, do not create a duplicate. Open the asset, select Edit, turn on Track as a Life Safety asset, then add the Life Safety group, type, and inspection information.
The equipment stays in the normal asset registry while also appearing in Life Safety, keeping work history, notes, files, and documents on the same underlying record.
Read status at a glance

A physical-condition flag such as Tagged out or Needs service takes priority over a future inspection date.
Log inspections where the work happens
Section titled “Log inspections where the work happens”For routine passing checks, the grouped Life Safety list can allow Log pass directly on the unit. For a failure, open the record and document what was found. A failure requires a note and starts the corrective-work process automatically.
When an inspection frequency is configured, a passing check rolls the next due date forward according to that cadence.

Use the compliance horizon as an action list
Section titled “Use the compliance horizon as an action list”The Life Safety dashboard groups upcoming deadlines into Next 30 days, 31–60 days, and 61–90 days, with overdue items called out separately.
A practical routine is to work from the nearest horizon outward: resolve overdue items, prepare the next 30 days, then use the longer windows to coordinate vendors, access, or planned service.
Keep the record tied to real equipment
Section titled “Keep the record tied to real equipment”If a unit moves, is replaced, or changes service status, update the record. Compliance data is useful only when it points to the equipment that physically exists while preserving what happened before.
