Notifications
Notifications bring important changes to you so you don’t have to keep checking every page. They are best used for events that need your attention — a new assignment, an approval, a mention, or a meaningful update to work you care about.
Use the notification bell
Section titled “Use the notification bell”The bell at the top of the sidebar shows a count when you have unread notifications. Open it to review the latest activity.
Selecting a notification marks it read and, when tied to a work order, takes you to that record. Use Mark all read when you’ve reviewed everything in the list.
What can notify you
Section titled “What can notify you”| Notification | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| Assigned to me | A work order was assigned or transferred to you |
| Mentions | Someone @mentioned you in a work-order comment |
| Updates on my work orders | Activity occurred on work you’re involved with or submitted |
| Requests to approve | A new request is waiting for a manager decision |
| Flagged for review | Completed work needs another look or manager attention |
| PM due and overdue | Preventive maintenance you are responsible for needs attention |
| Life Safety | A relevant deficiency or inspection due date needs attention |
Manager-specific options appear only for users who need them.
Choose what you want to receive
Section titled “Choose what you want to receive”Open Settings and find Notifications. Each notification type has its own switch, and your choices save automatically.
Use Enable notifications as the master switch. Turning it off stops new alerts from being created for you, but preserves existing history.
Enable device alerts
Section titled “Enable device alerts”If you want alerts when MaintenanceOps is in the background, open Settings → Notifications and select Enable notifications for that device. Your browser or device will ask for permission.
Device alerts supplement the in-app bell; they do not replace it. If browser notifications are blocked, you may need to change that permission in your browser or device settings.
On iPhone or iPad, use iOS 16.4 or later, add MaintenanceOps to the Home Screen, and open the installed app before enabling device notifications.
Each device is registered separately. You can test the current device, turn off one device without affecting the others, and choose Keep notification details private to show a generic lock-screen message. A device test confirms that the device can display an alert; it does not confirm server delivery.
Notifications do not replace the dashboard
Section titled “Notifications do not replace the dashboard”Use notifications for individual events. Use the dashboard for operational conditions such as overdue work, PM due, Life Safety, workload, vendor compliance, and renewals.
