Settings
The Settings area is where administrators configure how Maintenance Ops behaves for the organization, and where anyone sets their personal appearance preference. You’ll find it under Settings in the sidebar, which also groups Categories and Import beneath it.
Appearance — your personal look
Section titled “Appearance — your personal look”At the top of Settings is Appearance, where you choose your theme — Light, Dark slate, High contrast, or Amber. This choice is personal to your account and follows you across devices; it doesn’t affect anyone else. See Choosing your theme for a walkthrough of the options.
Organization preferences
Section titled “Organization preferences”Below that are the organization-wide settings that shape how work is handled for everyone. These are administrator controls — for example, preferences around how work orders are closed out and what documentation is required when work is completed. Because these apply to the whole organization, changing them affects how the app works for your entire team, so they’re worth setting deliberately.
The Settings group
Section titled “The Settings group”Settings is also the home for the other administrative setup areas, shown as sub-items beneath it in the sidebar:
- Categories — the category lists that organize work orders, assets, and parts. See Managing categories.
- Import / Export — bringing your data into Maintenance Ops. See Importing your data.
Grouping these under Settings keeps all the configuration and setup work in one place, separate from the day-to-day operational pages.
Who can change what
Section titled “Who can change what”Appearance is available to everyone — it’s a personal preference. The organization preferences, category management, user management, and import are administrator functions, so they only appear for admins. This separation means individual preferences stay personal while the settings that affect everyone stay in the right hands.
